The ‘Violence and aggression ‘app delivers specific results for coping with aggression and violence to healthcare workers, while saving money and providing a safer working environment.
The app will help you to care and address this growing unwanted phenomenon. It will do away with paper based registration, while giving you real-time and complete information. Furthermore, the app creates opportunities for measuring damage, taking action to aggressors and automated internal and external communications. Last but not least, by involving TPSC Improve and TPSC Task your organization will easily reduce risks by taking immediate action.
Healthcare institutes are becoming increasingly violent places in which to work. Healthcare professionals are more often being common targets for violent and aggressive behavior. Aggression and violence negatively impact both the workplace and its employees. For the organization, great financial costs can be incurred due to increased absences, early retirement and reduced quality of care.
A widespread challenge for healthcare organizations is building and implementing a framework and process to deal with the problem. There is most likely a lack of insight about the nature and frequency of incidents.
General
The 'Aggression' app is aimed at understanding nature, extent, frequency and risk of incidents as well as on aftercare. Typical for this application, among others, are the following features:
- Classification of incidents
- The circumstances in which the incident occurred
- The consequences of the incident
- Reporting to police and other authorities
- Desired or required aftercare
- Advice on handling towards various parties involve
Phase 1 – Assessment
All incidents regarding threats, agression and violance will be reported through an online form and registered in the app. The app is based on a international proven concept classification. This way, your organization will be able to act accordingly to its responsibilities .
Phase 2 – Reducing risk
Reducing risks is supported by analysis of reported incidents and taking decisive actions. Report overviews containing risk matrices will be created to assist decisions on how to reduce, handle and prevent risks. Next steps can be supported by TPSC Task and TPSC Improve.
Any task can be monitored and/or assigned to thirds for tracking purpose. Notifications and reminders will be sent by mail so nothing is forgotten and no information is lost.
Phase 3 – Monitoring
All collected data are direct accessible to monitor reports, incidents, trends including drilldowns on department, area, staff, clasification, level, etc.
After having analyzed an event, corrective and preventive actions, action plans etc. can be defined, deployed and monitored by using the standard functionality of TPSC Improve or TPSC task. You can even measure the results of your efforts by configuring indicators.
The (United States) Health Services Advisory Committee (HSAC) recommends a three-dimensional foundation by which to deal with violence in the workplace. It involves “researching the problem and assessing the risk, reducing the risk and checking what has been done”. Our 'Violence and aggression' app supports those steps.
