Components of a Safety Management System (SMS)
A comprehensive Safety Management System (SMS) consists of several components, such as reporting and following up on incidents, systematically implementing and monitoring improvement measures, and applying analytical methods.
Retrospective Analysis Methods
Depending on the type of incident, you can choose retrospective methods that are used after an incident, such as PRISMA or SIRE. By analyzing an incident, you uncover the root causes and can take targeted actions.
Prospective Analysis Methods
Another approach is the use of prospective methods. These provide insight into the current processes within your healthcare organization and the risks faced by employees and patients.

HFMEA as a Prospective Method
Healthcare Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (HFMEA) is a widely used prospective analysis method in healthcare for identifying risks in processes. Through TPSC Anticipate, you can fully integrate HFMEA into your SMS.
Renewal of TPSC Anticipate
TPSC Anticipate has been completely renewed in collaboration with several of our customers. Key elements of the methodology include creating a process diagram and elaborating the processes in the HFMEA spreadsheet, with the aim of identifying potential failure modes and determining appropriate measures.
Improvements to Diagrams and HFMEA Spreadsheet
Creating the process diagram has been simplified, allowing you to quickly and clearly produce a well-structured schematic overview. The development of the HFMEA spreadsheet has also been improved by the addition of a wizard. This wizard guides you step by step in mapping out potential failure modes. Furthermore, the improvement measures can easily be forwarded to the Improve application for follow-up and monitoring.
